India's aviation ministry issues show-cause notice to Air India over immigration breach

The Union aviation ministry has served Air India with a show-cause notice after three foreign passengers departed Delhi for Munich without completing the required immigration clearance.

Air India was cited for allowing three Italian nationals to board a Lufthansa-code-share flight to Munich within an hour of arriving from Amritsar, bypassing the mandatory exit immigration check. The notice, dated last Saturday, describes the incident as a serious security and immigration lapse. Officials have asked the airline for an explanation, which has not yet been received.

Why it matters

It exposes weaknesses in airport security procedures that could affect international travel safety.
