India's Labour Minister urges ongoing reskilling as AI reshapes workplaces

At a national conference organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry, Union Labour & Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized that artificial intelligence and emerging technologies are rapidly changing the nature of work. He advocated for a continuous reskilling strategy and a future-ready industrial relations system that safeguards workers' skills, safety, and involvement. Mandaviya highlighted the four Labour Codes as a pro-growth, simplified regulatory structure that also strengthens labour protections.

He called for expanded social security coverage to create an inclusive ecosystem reaching both formal and unorganised workers. The minister urged government, industry, and labour representatives to collaborate on best practices and foster a partnership culture. Referencing India's goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047, he argued that aligning workers' dignity with industrial growth can drive sustainable economic expansion.
