India's MEA denounces OIC resolution on Kashmir as Pakistan-driven falsehood
India's Ministry of External Affairs rejected an OIC resolution on Jammu and Kashmir, calling it a malicious, Pakistan-orchestrated narrative.
India's Ministry of External Affairs publicly rejected a resolution adopted by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation during its 52nd Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Baghdad, describing the document as a malicious and Pakistan-driven falsehood. The ministry emphasized that the OIC lacks any jurisdiction to intervene in issues it deems strictly internal to India, reiterating that Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are inseparable parts of the nation.
It highlighted the economic progress achieved in the Indian-administered territories following the 2019 repeal of Article 370, contrasting this with reports of violence and repression in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The MEA accused Pakistan of using the OIC platform to further a bigoted agenda and called for the removal of Pakistani forces from the disputed areas. The statement also urged Pakistan to cease support for cross-border terrorism, framing the dispute as a matter of illegal occupation.
Why it matters
The rejection underscores heightened India-Pakistan tensions and signals India's stance against international bodies commenting on its internal affairs.
