India to Stop Stamping Boarding Passes for International Departures Starting September 1
From September 1, immigration officers at Indian airports will no longer stamp boarding passes for outbound international travelers.
Effective September 1, the Bureau of Immigration will discontinue the requirement to stamp boarding passes for passengers leaving India on international flights. Travelers may show an electronic boarding pass on a mobile device or a printed version, and immigration staff will no longer apply a physical stamp. The update was conveyed in an internal memo from Delhi FRRO Deepak Yadav and shared with airport operators, the Central Industrial Security Force and related parties.
The revision aims to speed up clearance and reduce hassles such as unclear or hard-to-read stamps. Those who prefer a paper ticket can still use one, but it will remain unstamped. Overall, the procedure for departing travelers remains unchanged aside from the removal of the stamping step.
