India warns Chinese patrol deviations are unsettling the LAC
India says Chinese troops moving away from agreed patrol routes are disrupting peace along the Line of Actual Control, amid recent face-offs in Arunachal Pradesh.
During a routine media briefing, the Ministry of External Affairs said the Line of Actual Control becomes disturbed whenever Chinese troops stray from the patrolling routes mutually recognised by India and China. The statement was prompted by ITBP director-general Shatrujeet Kapur’s remarks that several face-offs have occurred in Arunachal Pradesh, prompting the activation of a new Shaurya commando formation and the establishment of drone platoons for border units.
Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that peace and tranquillity along the frontier are vital for the overall development of bilateral ties. He added that both sides are employing existing diplomatic and military mechanisms to resolve outstanding issues and avoid miscalculations. Recent commander-level talks in the eastern sector discussed ways to improve LAC understanding, while earlier reports had highlighted clashes near Taksing in Upper Subansiri district during July-August. Both governments continue to call for adherence to existing border agreements.
