Indian engineers Vikas and Anuradha Sinha donate $20 million to fund AI college at UNT
Vikas and Anuradha Sinha have contributed Rs 191 crore to the University of North Texas to create a new college focused on artificial intelligence and advanced analytics.
Anuradha and Vikas Sinha, originally civil-engineering students at Sri Venkateswara University in India, later pursued higher education in the United States, earning degrees from Florida Atlantic University and Northwestern University before Vikas completed a PhD at the University of North Texas in 2023. Vikas now holds a senior executive role at Broadcom’s mainframe software business and has served on UNT’s College of Information Leadership Board since 2023, making him an alumnus of the institution.
Their donation of Rs 191 crore will create the Sinha College of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Analytics at UNT, uniting multiple technology-focused disciplines such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, health informatics, advanced analytics and learning technologies. A substantial portion of the funds is earmarked for ongoing support of students, faculty and research initiatives rather than just construction. The couple said their own educational experiences motivated the gift, aiming to expand similar opportunities for future generations.
