Indian-origin man charged after alleged assault in Surrey park
Police in Surrey have charged Jagendar Kurana with sexual assault and sexual interference after a woman reported being groped in Bear Creek Park.
Surrey Police Service investigated a report of sexual assault at Bear Creek Park on August 9, after a woman alleged that an adult man groped her before escaping. Police issued a public request for information, distributing photographs of a suspect. Jagendar Kurana, identified as matching the description, was arrested on August 12.
The British Columbia Prosecution Service authorized one count each of sexual assault and sexual interference under the Criminal Code. Kurana was remanded in custody and scheduled for a bail hearing ahead of a court date on August 17. Authorities indicated that the probe into the alleged assault is still active.
