Indian Railways to launch Vande Bharat sleeper trains on Mumbai-Bengaluru and Delhi-Varanasi routes
Two new Vande Bharat sleeper services will begin operating on the Mumbai-Bengaluru and Delhi-Varanasi corridors within the next week.
Indian Railways is set to expand its premium overnight network by adding two Vande Bharat sleeper trains. The Bengaluru-Mumbai service is slated for an inaugural run on October 31, and the Delhi-Varanasi service will start on November 1, traveling overnight via Prayagraj and Kanpur. Both routes will join the already operating Guwahati-Kolkata sleeper service.
The Mumbai-Bengaluru train is expected to complete the journey in roughly 15 to 16 hours, targeting business commuters between the two economic hubs. The Delhi-Varanasi connection will link the capital with a major religious and tourist destination, potentially benefiting pilgrims and other travelers. These additions reflect the railways' push to broaden high-end long-distance travel options.
Why it matters
The new services enhance fast, comfortable overnight travel on key economic and pilgrimage corridors in India.
