Indian shooting coach suspended after harassment claims at junior world event
A coach employed by the Sports Authority of India was removed from his post following sexual harassment allegations made by junior rifle shooters at the Junior World Championships in Suhl, Germany.
During the Junior World Championships held in Suhl, Germany, a shooting coach employed by the Sports Authority of India was accused by two junior rifle shooters of inappropriate conduct during a walk on Friedberg Hill. The National Rifle Association of India's Internal Complaints Committee reviewed the coach's statement and, based on the association's report, the SAI transferred him away from the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range in Tughlakabad.
The complainants allege the coach tried to threaten their future careers to force the charges to be withdrawn. An oral complaint had previously been lodged by one of the shooters' parents, but no action was taken at that time.
