Despite the Janmashtami holiday on Friday, September 4, 2026, both the NSE and BSE will remain open for regular trading.
Janmashtami falls on Friday, September 4, 2026, but it is not designated as a trading holiday in the official 2026 calendars of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). As a result, both exchanges will conduct equity and equity-derivatives trading during their standard session times. Market participants can therefore continue normal buying and selling activities.
The trading schedule will stay unchanged, and the next market holiday is set for Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14, followed by other holidays later in the year such as Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Diwali. Apart from these listed holidays and the usual weekend closures, the exchanges will function as usual on all other trading days.
