Indiana Democrat’s heated forum remarks spark criticism and gun comment
Democratic candidate Jaime West faced ridicule after a televised forum where she called MAGAs racist, claimed a sheriff’s nephew threatened her, and ended with “We have guns too.”
Jaime West, running for Fayette County Council in Indiana, appeared on a televised candidate forum and declared she would “fire all Republicans” if elected. She described MAGAs as racist and lacking intelligence, and said a sheriff’s nephew had threatened to kill her. In response to a request for a final message, West said, “We have guns too.”
The performance was widely mocked online; conservative commentator Chaya Raichik asked whether West was intoxicated, while former litigator Viva Frei suggested the video resembled a skit and noted the contradictory gun remark. Fayette County Sheriff Zac Jones, who leads the office West referenced, said he does not know her and has no nephews, expressing confusion over her statements. West is contesting the seat against Republican Gary Keener Jr. in the Connersville-anchored county.
