Both athletes received an additional season of eligibility after a court broadened the NCAA’s “five-for-five” rule to include players who had already exhausted their eligibility. Wyatt, a transfer from Maryland, suffered a knee injury during a 38-13 victory over Michigan State and missed the Hoosiers' postseason run.
Over seven appearances he recorded 27 tackles (12 solo), eight tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and seven quarterback pressures. Cignetti emphasized a cautious rehab approach, leaving it to defensive coordinator Bryant Haines to determine Wyatt's role, which could involve linebacker duties in the team's 4-3 packages. The staff stressed patience to prevent any setbacks.
