India’s semiconductor ecosystem gains momentum as Tata Electronics secures multiple partnerships and production timelines stay on track
Tata Electronics said it will formalise 16 memoranda of understanding with partners from Europe, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, the United States and India, covering equipment and materials across the supply chain. The company’s new fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat, and a chip‑packaging unit in Assam remain on schedule, according to its chief executive. Nexperia will collaborate with Tata Electronics to set up manufacturing and packaging operations in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has noted that Indian fabs are now supplying chips to domestic and global markets and that the second phase of the India Semiconductor Mission carries a budget of roughly $13.5 billion. Existing ATMP and OSAT facilities are already in commercial production and exporting.
