IndiGo Dreamliner Returns to Heathrow After Smoke Detected Mid-Flight

IndiGo flight 6E 04, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner bound for New Delhi, departed London at 8:04 pm and soon after the crew detected smoke onboard. The pilots transmitted an emergency squawk code 7700 and halted the climb at roughly 24,000 feet before turning back toward the UK. The aircraft landed safely at Heathrow at 9:23 pm, after circling the Channel.

IndiGo issued a statement that a technical problem triggered the smoke, the plane is now under maintenance checks, and all necessary clearances will be obtained before returning to service. Passengers are being provided with hotel accommodation and re-booking on the next available flights. The airline emphasized that safety remains its top priority.
