Indonesia allocates roughly Rp574 trillion to education programs by September

Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara said the government has disbursed about Rp574 trillion for education, covering student aid, staff salaries and facility costs.

At a recent press briefing, Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara reported that the education budget has reached approximately Rp574 trillion. Of this, Rp184.3 trillion is directed to student-focused initiatives, including the Smart Indonesia Program, the KIP Kuliah card and the Free Nutritious Meals scheme. A further Rp177.9 trillion is allocated to the remuneration and professional allowances of teachers, lecturers and other education personnel.

The balance, Rp204.1 trillion, underwrites operational costs and infrastructure upgrades for schools and universities through programs like BOS and BOPTN. The disbursement breaks down into Rp330.9 trillion from the central government, Rp228.1 trillion transferred to regional authorities, and Rp15 trillion in financing. Nazara emphasized that central and regional spending should be viewed as a unified effort supporting the education sector.
