Indonesia and India launch creative-tech corridor to spur AI-driven IP growth
Indonesia and India inaugurated a creative-tech corridor on Oct 24 to develop local IP, expand AI use and help Indonesian content reach global markets.
On Oct 24, Indonesia and India announced a creative-tech corridor intended to boost indigenous intellectual property, broaden artificial-intelligence applications and open overseas markets for Indonesian creative works. The agreement, signed between Lokanima at the Singhasari Special Economic Zone and a range of industry players—including Prodigi AI, LPP TVRI, Cinepolis, Xelta, Galleri5 India and Collective Studios—establishes a Creative Tech Sandbox where creators can experiment with AI and other cutting-edge tools.
Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya said the initiative translates World Conference on Creative Economy commitments into tangible partnerships. India’s deputy chief of mission Bijay Selvaraj highlighted the synergy of Indonesia’s cultural narratives with India’s audiovisual and tech capabilities. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stressed that AI will create new jobs and called for supporting infrastructure such as data centres and semiconductors. The partners plan to showcase collaborative projects at the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit in Mumbai in 2027, aligning with Indonesia’s broader digital-economy growth targets.
Why it matters
The corridor could accelerate AI-enabled creative exports and job creation in two large emerging economies.
