Indonesia and South Korea Expand Joint Efforts on Intellectual Property Protection
Indonesia's Yusril and South Korea's Kim Yong Sun signed an MoU in Seoul to boost cooperation on IP enforcement, legal certainty and digital transformation through 2028.
In Seoul, Indonesia's Yusril and South Korea's Minister of Intellectual Property Kim Yong Sun concluded a bilateral memorandum of understanding covering IP protection cooperation until 2028. The accord calls for joint actions against alleged trademark and copyright violations, exchange of information on bad-faith applications, and development of data-sharing mechanisms for patents, trademarks and industrial designs. Both sides will promote capacity building for enforcement officials and support South Korean firms seeking IP registration in Indonesia. Yusril highlighted Indonesia's National Intellectual Property Master Plan (2027-2036) as a framework for strengthening the IP ecosystem, while Kim emphasized the MoU as a platform for preventing infringements and advancing digital transformation, including AI-related issues.
