Indonesia and UK unveil Tangguh+ platform to boost health cooperation
Indonesia and the United Kingdom launched the Tangguh+ platform in Jakarta, creating a joint hub for health system coordination and workforce development.
At a ceremony in Jakarta, Indonesia and the United Kingdom introduced Tangguh+, a coordination platform designed to strengthen health systems across both nations. Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono emphasized that the partnership must move beyond agreements to deliver concrete benefits for the public. The platform operationalises a memorandum of understanding signed on May 20, 2025, covering seven sectors including disease surveillance, digital health and preventive care.
Through Tangguh+, the two sides will focus on developing the healthcare workforce, fostering technological innovation and enhancing health security. The British side, represented by Ambassador Dominic Jermey and FCDO Director General Melinda Bohannon, pledged ongoing collaboration involving the NHS, universities and private firms. Officials hope the initiative will bridge the gap between policy commitments and tangible outcomes for Indonesian communities.
Why it matters
The partnership aims to improve health services and pandemic preparedness for millions in Indonesia and the UK.
