Indonesia expands rice assistance program to low-income families through December

The government will continue distributing rice aid to vulnerable households, providing a total of one million tons nationwide until the end of 2026.

President Prabowo Subianto has signed off on a new round of rice assistance intended to support low-income households through December 2026, according to Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan. The program allocates one million tons of rice for distribution, with the latest delivery taking place in Kwagean Village, Nganjuk District, where 16,260 kilograms reached 542 recipients. Each family will obtain 10 kilograms per month for three months, with the full allotment provided at once.

East Java Bulog Regional Head Langgeng Wisnu Adinugroho said the agency is securing sufficient stocks and streamlining logistics to reach eligible residents province-wide. The aid also includes symbolic handovers to orphans and online motorcycle-taxi drivers, and beneficiaries expressed gratitude given current high rice prices.
