Indonesia eyes up to $2.3 trillion in clean-energy investment opportunities
The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry says the country can tap a global clean-energy market worth $2.3 trillion, leveraging its mineral resources and renewable potential.
Anindya Bakrie, chair of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, asserted that Indonesia is well positioned to attract a share of the $2.3 trillion global clean-energy investment pool, a figure reached in 2025. He noted that the transition is now a pillar of the nation’s economic competitiveness, energy security and industrial strategy. The country’s abundant critical minerals, vast renewable resources and a large domestic market could generate investment opportunities estimated at $3.8 trillion by 2050 across electric-vehicle, battery, biofuel and geothermal sectors.
Bakrie outlined three priorities: enhancing energy competitiveness and resilience, shifting from raw-material exporter to green-industrial producer, and closing the gap between capital and bankable projects through clearer regulations and financing mechanisms. He emphasized that cooperation between government, state-owned enterprises, private firms and international partners is essential to realise these goals.
Why it matters
Securing clean-energy investment could reshape Indonesia’s economy, jobs and climate outlook.
