Indonesia freezes subsidized fuel prices through 2026 despite global oil volatility

Pertamina Patra Niaga reaffirmed its compliance with the government's decision to hold Pertalite and Biosolar prices flat until the close of 2026, despite swings in global crude markets and the rupiah-dollar rate. Kitty Andhora, the company's vice president of corporate communication, stated that while subsidized fuels stay fixed, non-subsidized products will continue to be priced according to established formulas. The ministry also said Public Service Obligation (JBU) fuels will adhere to state-set benchmarks.

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia highlighted that the price freeze is intended to shield the buying power of low- and middle-income families, even though it may increase the fiscal subsidy burden. The policy is being monitored under President Prabowo Subianto's administration as part of broader efforts to stabilise domestic energy costs.
