Indonesia issues over 32,000 domestic credit cards in first month of launch

Bank Indonesia announced that 32,457 domestic credit cards have been issued and activated since the KKI was launched on August 17, 2026. The card, designed for retail consumers, is currently delivered as a digital product embedded in banking apps and serves as a QRIS funding source. Eight payment service providers—BCA, Mandiri, BNI, BRI, CIMB Niaga, PermataBank, Bank Mega and BSI—participate as first movers, with BCA accounting for roughly 28,000 active users.
Overall, about 8,000 users have conducted 38,800 transactions worth Rp18.7 billion, with an average ticket size of Rp482,000. The program will progress through three stages: digital QRIS integration, e-commerce payment capability, and finally physical card issuance.
