Indonesia mobilizes over 5,600 police officers for FIFA ASEAN Cup security
Indonesia has deployed 5,641 police officers to protect the upcoming FIFA ASEAN Cup, covering venues, transport routes and fan zones.
Operation Garuda Bakti 2026 was launched by Inspector General Laksana at a Jakarta Metro Police facility, outlining a 16-day security plan for the FIFA ASEAN Cup. The deployment totals 5,641 officers, comprising 102 command staff, 3,834 Jakarta Metro Police and 1,705 West Java Police. The force will secure stadiums, arrival points, accommodation, training grounds, transport routes, fan gathering spots, parking areas and vital installations, while also managing traffic and monitoring digital spaces.
Specialized units are on standby for bomb and drone incidents. PSSI Secretary-General Yunus Nusi commended the intensive coordination, noting FIFA’s appreciation for the measures. The tournament will be co-hosted with Hong Kong, with matches in Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno Stadium and Bandung’s Si Jalak Harupat Stadium.
