Indonesia prepares one million tons of rice aid for low-income families

The government plans to distribute one million metric tons of rice to vulnerable households, giving each family 10 kg per month for three months.

Indonesia is set to allocate one million metric tons of rice to support low-income families struggling with higher staple prices and limited supply caused by drought. The aid package provides each beneficiary household with 10 kg of rice per month over a three-month period, amounting to 30 kg in total for October through December. The distribution will be coordinated by Bulog and regional authorities to ensure rapid delivery.

Minister Zulkifli noted that the effort follows previous distributions in February-March and July-September 2026, the latter reaching about 967,500 metric tons. He also mentioned that budget approval is expected within the next one to two days. The initiative reflects the administration’s focus on food security and public confidence during the emergency.
