Indonesia's 2025-2034 Power Plan Opens Vast Renewable Investment Prospects

Indonesia's 2025-2034 electricity supply plan targets 69.5 GW of new capacity, with renewables making up 61 % and creating over 800,000 jobs.

Indonesia’s 2025-2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan outlines the construction of 69.5 GW of new power capacity, with renewables accounting for 61 % (42.6 GW) and solar projects representing the largest share at about 17.1 GW. The remaining capacity will be split between 10.3 GW of energy storage and 16.6 GW of fossil-fuel plants. Officials note that only around 0.5 % of the nation’s 3,687 GW renewable potential is currently utilized, leaving substantial opportunity for private investors.

The expansion is projected to create more than 836,000 jobs, over 760,000 of which are classified as green. Authorities link the clean-energy push to attracting investment in data centers, green industrial parks, sustainable aviation fuel, green ammonia and carbon-capture projects, aiming to boost exports and Indonesia’s role in global supply chains.

Why it matters

The plan could unlock massive renewable capacity and green jobs, reshaping Indonesia’s energy landscape and drawing global investment.
