Indonesia's Energy Ministry discovers 400,000-liter diesel stockpile in Semarang

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said officials uncovered a hidden cache of 400,000 liters of diesel in Semarang, Central Java.

Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources reported that a 400,000-liter diesel stockpile was found in Semarang, Central Java, after an enforcement sweep led by the Director General of Legal Enforcement. Deputy Minister Yuliot emphasized that the government will intensify actions against illegal fuel storage and diversion to sectors such as industry, plantations and mining, which disrupt public fuel supply. The seizure comes after the National Police's Criminal Investigation Agency disclosed numerous cases of subsidized fuel and LPG misuse in 33 provinces during 2025 and early 2026.

Police operations have resulted in the arrest of hundreds of suspects and the confiscation of large quantities of diesel, gasoline and LPG cylinders, as well as trucks used for transport. Investigators plan to charge offenders under the Job Creation Law and apply anti-money-laundering statutes to target the organizers of these schemes.
