The Public Works Ministry is rebuilding dozens of mosques, churches and Islamic schools in Aceh after last year's floods and landslides.
Indonesia's Public Works Ministry is actively repairing religious facilities and educational institutions in Aceh that were damaged by widespread floods and landslides last year. Dody Hanggodo emphasized the priority of restoring basic services so communities can return to normal life. So far, construction has begun at 116 worship sites and 34 Islamic boarding schools, with repairs ranging from roof replacement to electrical and plumbing fixes.
The ministry also plans to address damage at 150 Islamic schools as part of a broader program covering 207 schools. To support local livelihoods, 1,351 residents have been employed on the projects. Officials pledged to monitor quality and adapt work to the specific needs of each location.
Why it matters
Restoring worship places and schools helps Aceh communities recover and revives local employment after a major natural disaster.
