Indonesia seeks Hollywood partnership to boost creative industry collaboration

Indonesian officials met the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in Los Angeles to explore cooperation on talent development, co-production and a creative-industry memorandum of understanding.

At the Indonesia-US Digital Technology Forum held in Los Angeles from October 5-8, 2026, Indonesia’s creative-industry team met the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which represents more than 600 entertainment firms. Led by Director General Grata Endah Werdaningtyas, the delegation explored collaborations ranging from talent-development schemes to joint film and game productions and a prospective memorandum of understanding on the creative sector.

HCC President Ron Frierson highlighted a shared entrepreneurial spirit and suggested the partnership could benefit entertainment, tourism and business. Los Angeles Deputy Mayor Dilpreet Sidhu joined the discussion, and the group also met representatives from Warner Bros. Discovery, William Morris Endeavor, the local AI community and the University of Southern California, as well as the Indonesian creative diaspora. While no formal agreement was signed, both parties view Los Angeles as a strategic hub to connect Indonesian creators with global networks.

Why it matters

Linking Indonesia with Hollywood could open global markets for its creators and strengthen the nation's creative economy.
