Indonesia takes delivery of 12 US-made amphibious combat vehicles

Indonesia’s Navy Marine Corps has taken delivery of 12 Assault Amphibious Vehicles (AAV-7) supplied by the United States through a Foreign Military Sales arrangement. Admiral Muhammad Ali highlighted that each vehicle carries 21 soldiers, is operated by a driver, commander and weapons specialist, and can navigate seas up to sea state 5, earning the designation M-35. The new AAVs will be deployed to Marine Corps units I, II and III to boost maritime defence and support both combat and humanitarian tasks.

An additional 23 units are slated to arrive by the end of November 2026, with further deliveries of 35 vehicles in 2027 and another 35 in 2028, totaling 105 US-built vehicles. Ali expressed hope that Indonesia’s domestic defence industry will eventually produce comparable amphibious platforms.
