Indonesian Air Force uses Caracal helicopter to douse East Kalimantan wildfire
A forest fire near Penajam Paser Utara and Kutai Kartanegara in East Kalimantan reignited, prompting the Air Force to deploy a Caracal helicopter for water bombing.
On September 3, a fire broke out near the border of Penajam Paser Utara and Kutai Kartanegara districts in East Kalimantan, roughly 44 kilometers from the new capital, Nusantara. The blaze, which had previously been addressed by military and local authorities, reignited and consumed around five hectares of land in Sukomulyo Village, Sepaku Subdistrict. In response, the Indonesian Air Force dispatched a Caracal helicopter to perform water bombing over the affected area.
The military's information center confirmed that firefighting operations were still in progress at the time of the report. Officials expressed optimism that the aerial intervention would help speed up efforts to control the forest and land fire.
