Indonesian Embassy in Paris warns nationals to stay vigilant amid student protests

The Indonesian Embassy in Paris has issued a safety advisory for Indonesians in France following large-scale student demonstrations that disrupted transport and schools.

Following a wave of student-led protests across French cities, the Indonesian Embassy in Paris released a warning for Indonesian nationals residing or traveling in France. Heni Hamidah, director of the Directorate for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens, confirmed that the embassy is monitoring the situation closely after demonstrations on October 17 caused disruptions to schools, public transport and traffic flow. No Indonesian citizens were reported among the protesters, but authorities advise avoiding large gatherings and staying informed through official channels.

Travelers are asked to be prepared for possible road closures or route changes, and a dedicated hotline (+33-6-2112-2109) is available for emergencies. The protests, driven by demands for more education funding and changes to the Parcoursup university admissions system, have led to over a thousand arrests, most of whom are minors.
