Infant discovered dead in South Los Angeles dumpster, homicide probe launched

At approximately 10:30 p.m. Monday, the Los Angeles Police Department answered a call to a death scene in South Los Angeles near Alba Street and Long Beach Avenue. Fire department personnel located a 6-month-old baby inside a dumpster and took the child to a local hospital, where she was declared dead. Authorities are pursuing the incident as a homicide investigation.
Witnesses at the location, a couple, suggested the infant could be their granddaughter, explaining that their daughter gave the baby to the child's father the previous evening and has since lost contact with him. No further details have been released by police. The case remains under active investigation.
