A one-year-old child was wounded by a mortar-style firework near a school protest in Saint-Cyr-l’École, close to Versailles.
Around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, a mortar firework was launched at ground level near the Mansart high school as students gathered for a demonstration. The projectile struck a baby in a stroller as the family crossed a small square near a Monoprix store, between the high school and the Jean-Perrin vocational school. The child was taken to hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed the incident following reports from local sources.
