Ingolstadt Court Sentences Man to Life for Murder of Ex-Wife
A 50-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Landgericht Ingolstadt for killing his former wife on a public street.
In a ruling by the Landgericht Ingolstadt, a 50-year-old man received a life sentence for the murder of his former wife, whom he attacked with a knife dozens of times on a public street in December 2025. The judge noted the defendant’s prior restraining order and previous conviction for stalking, describing a years-long campaign of surveillance that included a GPS tracker on the victim’s car and eavesdropping on private conversations.
The victim, severely wounded, died an hour later in hospital, while the attacker was left seriously injured and fell into a coma after the children intervened. The court classified the guilt as particularly grave, making parole after 15 years highly unlikely, and upheld the prosecution’s request for a murder conviction. The defense, which had argued for a manslaughter charge, announced it will file an appeal.
