Inquiry examines over 20 key figures linked to Omagh car bombing

The Omagh Bombing Inquiry, led by Lord Turnbull, is conducting a series of evidential hearings in Belfast to investigate the 1998 car bombing that resulted in 29 deaths. In the latest phase, the panel examined the actions before and after the attack, concentrating on more than 20 "key individuals" identified by investigators. Analyst Mark Safranauskas, a civilian with Greater Manchester Police, presented two reports based on summaries, diagrams, video footage, photographs, and witness statements supplied to the inquiry's legal team.

The hearing displayed images of the four men previously held liable in a civil judgment, as well as Real IRA graffiti and a map of the Coes Road area in Dundalk. Counsel Nick de la Poer KC noted that labeling someone a "key individual" does not equate to proven terrorist involvement, but the inquiry will consider the visual evidence presented.
