Insee predicts major boost in jobs near Grand Paris Express stations by 2031
The national statistics office projects an 88% rise in jobs accessible to residents living within 800 m of the 68 new Grand Paris Express stations by 2031.
Insee’s newly released "La France et ses territoires" report highlights the transformative effect of the Grand Paris Express on employment access. By 2031, when the full 200-kilometre network and its 68 stations are operational, residents living less than 800 metres from a station and within a 45-minute travel time are projected to experience an 88% increase in reachable jobs. The most pronounced gains are forecast for Clichy and Montfermeil, with a potential 211% rise, followed by Villejuif and the Gustave Roussy area at 176%.
Strategic hubs such as Saint-Denis-Pleyel and La Défense are also expected to see sizable improvements of 29% and 27% respectively. The analysis, conducted by the Société des grands projets, underscores that the new system could eventually place about 90% of Île-de-France’s population within two kilometres of public transport. The report also references broader tramway expansion, which has previously boosted employment in served neighborhoods.
