Insurance executive kills wife and daughter, then himself in New Jersey mansion

A New Jersey insurance executive shot his wife and daughter dead before committing suicide inside their $1.75 million Montgomery Township home.

County officials reported that David Grodnick, a senior vice president at Land Services USA, shot his wife Lora and daughter Sloane to death before turning the gun on himself in their Montgomery Township mansion. The trio was discovered on Oct. 2 after police responded to a welfare-check call on Oct. 1 and gained entry to the home later that day. Medical personnel from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital confirmed head-shot injuries for all three.

Prosecutors ruled the wife’s and daughter’s deaths homicides and the father’s a suicide, noting no public threat. The family had recently moved from Princeton, belonged to exclusive clubs such as Bedens Brook Country Club and TPC Jasna Polana, and the home is valued at $1.75 million. Sloane was pursuing a master’s at the Rhode Island School of Design, while David held senior roles in commercial real-estate insurance.
