Integrity chief at Santé publique France failed to disclose ties to Pfizer
Employees at Santé publique France discovered that the agency’s new scientific integrity officer, Hervé Maisonneuve, did not reveal his financial connections with Pfizer.
A group of Santé publique France employees have questioned the transparency of the agency’s newly appointed scientific integrity referent, Hervé Maisonneuve. Although hired in late March for a three-year mandate to safeguard ethical practices and combat misinformation, Maisonneuve did not disclose his financial links to the drug maker Pfizer. Payments were made to his consulting firm from 2021 through 2023, but these were omitted from required declarations.
Maisonneuve is a recognized expert in scientific integrity, contributing to the Quotidien du médecin and serving on the AP-HP scientific integrity office. The situation has prompted internal discussions about how integrity breaches should be reported when they involve the very official tasked with overseeing them.
