Inter Miami appoints former Argentina star Cristian "Kily" Gonzalez as manager

Inter Miami revealed that former Argentina midfielder Cristian "Kily" Gonzalez has been hired as the new head coach, pending his U.S. work-permit clearance. He steps in after Guillermo Hoyos, who was overseeing the professional development side, served as interim manager following Javier Mascherano's exit in April. Gonzalez, aged 52, earned 56 caps for Argentina between 1995 and 2005 and played for clubs such as Inter Milan, Valencia and Rosario Central before moving into coaching in 2020.

He will inherit a team that, despite boasting Lionel Messi, has recorded only one win in its last five regular-season games and sits nine points behind the Eastern Conference leader. His inaugural training session is scheduled for Tuesday morning, with the team preparing for a Campeones Cup clash against Mexican side CD Cruz Azul on Wednesday.
