Interim Agriculture Minister condemns violence at shepherds' protest in Victory Square

Interim Agriculture Minister Tanczos Barna responded to the unrest in Victory Square, stating that the shepherds' demonstration was diverted into vandalism by individuals not representing agricultural interests. He condemned the shift from lawful protest to violent actions and welcomed the 14 representative sheep-breeders' associations for rejecting any aggression toward police. Barna received a delegation from these groups at the ministry and affirmed his familiarity with farmers' grievances, many of which he described as justified.

He recalled offering the government as a venue for dialogue after a prior legally organized protest and mentioned several proposals he had drafted. The minister also referenced the ANSVSA's submission of a European Commission Action Plan aimed at unlocking sheep and goat exports, slated for discussion by EU member states later this week.
