Intermountain Health unveils detailed plans for downtown Salt Lake City hospital replacement

Intermountain Health submitted two documents to Salt Lake City that provide new visualizations and operational details for its upcoming downtown hospital on the former Sears lot at 754 S. State. The centerpiece will rise about 208 feet, complemented by shorter buildings, two parking garages with roughly 1,200 stalls, and additional surface parking. An outdoor plaza, gardens, a food-truck court and public art installations are also planned.

The facility will run around the clock with a helipad, while outpatient services will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and visitor hours will run 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Intermountain targets a silver-level LEED certification and projects water consumption of just under 150,000 gallons per day. The documents label the site the “LDS Hospital replacement site,” but the timeline for construction and the disposition of the existing LDS Hospital property have not been disclosed. A company spokesperson said more information will be released later this year.
