International burglary ring busted after raids on multiple Budapest apartments
Police captured three foreign suspects linked to a burglary gang that targeted several apartments in Budapest, stealing cash, jewelry and high-end camera gear.
A coordinated operation by the Budapest Police Headquarters and the Terrorism Prevention Center led to the arrest of three men—a Bulgarian and two Georgians—suspected of belonging to an international burglary network. The suspects operated in several districts of Budapest, breaking into apartments and taking cash, valuable jewelry and premium photographic and video equipment. During the arrests, police recovered the stolen items and a range of lock-picking tools, and also discovered plant material that may be related to drug activity in one suspect's possession.
The men were taken to the XIV district police station for questioning on charges of organized theft. Investigators are still examining how the perpetrators identified their targets and have declined to comment on the specific tools used to breach the locks.
