International documentary crews converge on Turkey's Ağrı to film Noah's Ark research
Scientists studying a site on Mount Ararat that may hold Noah's Ark are being filmed by several British and American documentary teams, including Bear Grylls' crew.
In eastern Turkey's Ağrı province, a long-debated location near the village of Telçeker on Mount Ararat is being examined for possible remains of Noah's Ark. The investigation, directed by professor Cenker Atila of the Department of Archaeology at Sivas Cumhuriyet University and supported by American researcher Andrew Jones, has established GPS points, produced 3-D maps, and conducted radar scans that revealed several voids possibly representing corridors or rooms.
Soil samples from these zones will be analyzed over the coming months. Simultaneously, three documentary crews from Britain and the United States, including the team of television presenter Bear Grylls, are filming the scientific work. Sait Yardımcı, president of the Turkish Film Commission, said the project showcases Doğubayazıt's visual richness and anticipates further international film ventures. Lauren Witzke of Noah’s Ark Scans emphasized the universal interest of the site across faiths, while the researchers plan to release findings after radar and soil results are processed.
