Investigators trace Matolcsy Ádám's ownership of multiple private equity funds

Prosecutors identified Matolcsy Ádám as the beneficial owner of six private-equity funds linked to his father, former central-bank governor Matolcsy György.

A tax-authority probe revealed that Matolcsy Ádám, son of detained former central-bank governor Matolcsy György, is the real owner of six private-equity vehicles managed by Quartz Alapkezelő. He controls 100 % of the Aurum and Felis funds, 91.35 % of Bremdal, 81.75 % of Uncia, and a 50-50 split in the Sky I and Sky II funds. The funds own several office properties in Budapest, including the Váci Greens complex and the Millenáris Classic building, some of which were previously purchased by MNB foundations.

The investigation also found that Száraz István, previously a close partner of Matolcsy Ádám, has not exercised ownership rights over Quartz since May 2024. Authorities are examining how these holdings intersect with the central bank’s assets and whether any misuse of public funds occurred.
