Iran accelerates reconstruction of bombed Taleghan 2 nuclear site at Parchin

New satellite imagery captured on September 13 shows Iran rapidly rebuilding the Taleghan 2 nuclear installation within the Parchin military complex southeast of Tehran. The facility, heavily damaged by Israeli airstrikes in October 2024 and again in March 2026, now features a large tarp shielding the underground structure and visible construction equipment such as bulldozers, cranes and concrete mixers. Analysts from the Institute for Science and International Security have identified a sizable cylindrical structure that could serve as a high-explosive testing chamber, highlighting the site's historic role in the clandestine Amad program aimed at nuclear weapon capability.
The institute described the reconstruction effort as "very concerning." Although the International Atomic Energy Agency and U.S. intelligence agencies assert that Iran ended the program in 2003, Tehran continues to deny any pursuit of nuclear weapons.
