Iran detains 31 suspects tied to US-Israel backed sabotage cells
Iran's Intelligence Ministry says it has arrested 31 people in Kerman province who were linked to four sabotage networks allegedly supported by the United States and Israel.
The arrests took place in Sirjan county, where authorities claim the groups recruited teenagers and prepared large numbers of Molotov cocktails to damage surveillance cameras. Officials allege the cells were planning street unrest and sabotage ahead of future protests. The ministry also accuses the networks of participating in violence during the January nationwide demonstrations.
Why it matters
The detentions highlight Tehran's claims of foreign-backed subversion and could intensify tensions with the United States and Israel.
