Iran launches new civilian military training hub in Tehran ahead of potential US-Israeli clash

Iran inaugurated a training centre in Tehran to ready civilians for possible ground combat against US and Israeli forces, with plans to train 1,000 battalions.

On Saturday, Iran opened a new military training centre in Tehran's Haft-e Tir Square, designed to prepare civilians for a potential ground offensive by US and Israeli troops. This follows a prior camp held at Imam Hussein Square and reflects ongoing tensions after the February 28 attacks that sparked a seven-month conflict. Footage shows army personnel leading drills with camouflaged anti-aircraft equipment, obstacle-course runs and VR-based weapons training.

At a press briefing, Basij deputy training officer Ali Kowsari said the programme targets 1,000 battalions and highlighted the importance of civil defence across society. He warned that Iranians would unite against any renewed aggression if the enemy makes "another miscalculation."

Why it matters

The centre signals Iran's push to mobilize civilians for possible direct conflict with the US and Israel.
