Iran says Oman deal does not guarantee Hormuz Strait reopening
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that the pending agreement with Oman to manage the Strait of Hormuz will not automatically lead to the waterway’s reopening.
Araghchi told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that Iran will share the details of the Oman-Iran accord with Gulf states meeting in Muscat. He emphasized that the pact does not signal a reopening of the strait, which remains contingent on the United States fulfilling its obligations under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. Tehran maintains that regional security rests with the surrounding countries.
