Iran to create a prohibited maritime zone near Hormuz and double top-tier fuel price
Iran's security chief announced a new prohibited zone around the Strait of Hormuz, and the government said the highest petrol price tier will be doubled.
Iran's top security official, Mohsen Rezaei, told state television that a prohibited maritime zone will be announced in the coming days, covering waters from the US Navy's blockade line into sections of the Persian Gulf. Ships entering this area will be added to Iran's sanctions list. Concurrently, government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani announced that the price for the highest consumption tier of gasoline will increase to 10,000 tomans per litre, up from the previous 5,000 tomans, effectively doubling the cost for heavy users.
