Iran vows to keep pursuing legal case over Minab school attack

Iran's Vice Presidency for Legal Affairs says it will continue international legal action over the Minab school missile strike until victims' rights are secured.

Iran announced that it will maintain its international legal campaign to obtain justice for victims of the Minab school missile attack, according to administration spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani. The Vice Presidency for Legal Affairs, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, pledged to pursue the case relentlessly, even if legal processes extend for decades. The attack on Feb 28, carried out by a US missile, killed at least 175 individuals, including 168 schoolchildren and numerous teachers and parents.

The government has created a dedicated headquarters to streamline relief efforts and prevent fragmented responses. Reconstruction plans involve building a new school and converting the original structure into a museum, with the School-Building Benefactors' Association meeting the Hormozgan governor. Cultural initiatives, such as the novel "Khoonab-e Minab" by Amirkabir Publications, are being promoted to convey the tragedy and resilience to a global audience.

Why it matters

The case reflects Iran's ongoing diplomatic and legal response to a high-casualty attack, influencing regional tensions and victim reparations.
